Pouch Laminators and Roll Laminators
Pouch Laminators are desktop thermal laminating machines that are used to laminate single documents, business cards, luggage tags or recipe cards. Pouch Laminating Equipment comes in widths from 4” wide up to 13” wide and are available up to 44” wide. Pouch Laminators are used to laminate from card size up to 11”x17”. Pouch Laminating Machines use what is called a “ lamination pouch” which are 2 sheets of plastic that are sealed on one side and open on three sides. You insert your item to be laminated into the pouch and run it through the Pouch Laminator. The laminate pouch is made up of plastic and a heat activated adhesive. The Pouch Laminator activates the adhesive and permanently seals the plastic into the document.
Some Pouch Laminators require a carrier to laminate and some do not. We recommend using a carrier to keep the rollers clean and keep the adhesive from getting on the rollers.
A carrier is simply a heavy weight coated card stock. The pouch is inserted in the carrier before it is put thru the Laminator. The carrier can be used over and over and are included in the box with our Laminating Pouches.

ROLL LAMINATORS
Roll laminating machines are available in widths from 13" up to 60" Wide Format Laminating Machines.
Unlike a Pouch Laminator, Roll Laminators run a continous web of plastic for laminating larger quantities of paper products.
Roll Laminator Machines are available to laminate with either cold or hot Laminating Films.
Hot or (Thermal) Laminators use 2 rolls, (a top and a bottom) of heat activated laminating film to encapsulate documents.
Roll Laminators melt the film onto the paper by passing the Laminating Film over a set of heat shoes or heated rollers and through a set of nip and pull rollers that apply pressure.
The heat activates the adhesive in the film and permanently seals it to the paper.
Cold Laminators use a pressure sensitive adhesive to apply the film to the paper.
The cold films are about 5 times the cost of thermal films but are needed for certain heat sensitive applications.
